Relief

Specific relief Padis entire area is karst, which became famous thanks to Romania and beyond. Most of what is included in the tourist area is presented as a Padis karst plateau with an average altitude of 1200 meters. Plateau is bordered by steep, between which are valleys wild, fast waters, deep gorges and canyons even. On the plateau meet: sinkholes, clints, Marmite, sinkholes, strainers, springs, poles, Hoanca, potholes, caves. Caves Padis area are looking to their ornaments: stalactites, stalagmites, columns, draperies, valances, etc.. There are ice caves in Padis.

 

Climate

Climate Padis area is wet and cold. The average annual temperature is 3 degrees Celsius in summer rising to 25 degrees Celsius. Snow falls in November and keeps until April.

On the plateau, due to karst topography, the climate there is a special phenomenon. Cold air, unable to drain the valley at night, accumulate in sinkholes, in many of these lakes are dolines, which accumulates on the heat. In the evening, warm air rises over the lake and enter the layer of cold air, trapped above the plateau. Thus, there is a condensation which gives rise to a dense fog, a layer of a meter high that creeps on the earth, known padisană band.

Hydrographic network

In Padis several river basins:

  • - Padis with main rivers: Gârjoaba, Trânghiesti, Renghii, burn and cases, Varasoaia. The most interesting phenomenon of karst
    this basin are Ponoarele in number 13.
  • - Another basin, Poiana Ponor, a policy typical. After a journey of 3.4 km, the waters disappeared Padis appear in Poiana Ponor Izbuc by a strong Izbucul Ponor (or Izbucul in Poiana Ponor). After about 300 meters from Izbuc waters Ponor earth disappear again by 6-7 strainers. At high water (rainy periods), strainers can not drain the entire amount and thus arises a lake.
  • - Basin Lost World, with the two valleys: Spring Creek Bear and Sec. Caves (Izbucul Bear and Caput), avens (Gemanata, black, covered). Caput Cave ends with a soda lake in the cities Ponor responsible.
  • - Basin-Fortress Balileasa Ponor. Valley cities, sinkholes, clints, Marmite. The water reappears Ponor Fortress Caput Cave disappeared in the form of an underground river in a cave gallery. After a short distance to the light disappears again in the mouth of a cave, which started its journey underground (1700M) of Valley City (waterfalls, jumpers, 14 deep lakes).
  • - Barsa Pit, sinkholes, a lake and 11 caves (Zapodie, Black, Glacier Barsa).
    Besides the above, there are river basins and Somes Cald Boga.
  • - Warm Somes originally Radeasa stream, entering the city Radesei after previously came from another cave. After a small canyon at the exit of the cave and the confluence with two other rivers, enters a canyon of a rare wild in the Apuseni Mountains, called Somes Cald Gorges.
  • - Yellow, which drains the entire basin Padis-Fortress Ponor, start by Izbucul Galbena. It has a great flow and a turbulent current. Canyon, natural arches, caves, underground tunnels, waterfalls, Marmite.
  • - Boga Boga karst spring begins with under stones Boga. Narrow gorges, with key tributaries and waterfalls, lake. The name Valley Bulzului Galbena joins and gives rise Cris Pietros.

 

Vegetation and fauna

Padis forests consist of spruce and beech. The gaps alpine herbs predominate; meet afinisurile, juniper bushes and jneapan. In glades meet fânatele, the country's famous Moti meadow. Who wants to know spendoarea Flowers Clearing, with its millions of flowers, you have to visit in June-July. By July-August is the period mowing, with its intoxicating fragrance, and forest fruits. In September, the forests are crossed by the locals, and tourists in search of berries and mushrooms.

Many species of wild animals living in the area, but they are hiding, fleeing man. The whole holiday spent at Padis, you're lucky if you see a deer. See, however, in most meadows, scurmături of boars.
There are still bears, boars, deer and deer, wolves, grouse, squirrels. Mountain streams abound in trout.
