ECOTOURISM - RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

Cabana Ponorului Chalet complies with the principles of ecotourism, developing and promoting those forms of tourism that have a minimal negative impact on the environment and on local communities, while maximizing the positive impact on the local economy.

We consider that ecotourism is essentially responsible tourism. Responsible tourism is a different approach to travel and leisure, as well as a different approach to providing tourism services. Ecotourism, in the purest sense, wants to have a minimal impact on the local environment and culture, while generating income, jobs for the local community and contributing to the conservation of local ecosystems.

The principles of responsible tourism are:

            1. Minimizing the negative economic, environmental and social impact of tourism.

            2. Generating increased economic benefits for the locals and improving the quality of life and working conditions of the local community.

            3. Involving the locals in the decisions that affect their life and the future development of the area.

            4. A positive contribution to the conservation of the local natural and cultural heritage.

            5. Providing more enjoyable experiences to tourists through a better connection between them and local realities and facilitating tourists' understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.

Ecotourism

Cetatile Ponorului Chalet makes sustained efforts to respect the principles of ecotourism.

Ecotourism is that form of tourism in which the main motivation of the tourist is the observation and appreciation of nature and local traditions and which must meet the following conditions:

            1. Conservation and protection of nature

            2. Use of local human resources

            3. Educational character, respect for nature - awareness for tourists and the local community

            4. Decreases the negative impact on the natural and socio-cultural environment.

Ecotourism principles:

            1. The principle of focusing on natural areas - ecotourism focuses on personal and direct experience in nature, is conducted within nature and is based on its use.

            2. The principle of interpreting the ecotourism product - the level and type of interpretation are planned, designed and offered in such a way as to meet the interests, needs and expectations of the client, with the inclusion of a wide range of possibilities for both personal and non-personal interpretation.

            3. The principle of sustainability from the perspective of the protection of the natural environment - ecotourism activities and their planning must offer best tourism and planning practices in terms of nature conservation and sustainable development.

            4. Principle of contribution to conservation - ecotourism involves participating in the protection of the visited natural areas, offering constructive ways for their good management and biodiversity conservation.

            5. The principle of constructive contribution to the development of local communities - the benefits of ecotourism must be largely the responsibility of local communities. Local benefits can come from using local guides, buying local goods and services and using local facilities.

            6. The principle of sensitivity to local culture and traditions - ecotourism activities must ensure a reduction of the negative impact on the visited local community and on their lifestyle.
